Company Story

AFCO-Trading was born from a simple belief: Canada's chocolate industry deserves better access to one of the world's finest cacao origins.  The Democratic Republic of Congo produces exceptional beans that have long gone unnoticed by major Canadian buyers — and we set out to change that.


Co-founders Christian Kilundu and Nigel Tootill combine deep personal roots in the DRC with professional expertise in international sales, partnerships, and trade operations.  Together, they've built a direct supply chain that brings DRC's finest organic cacao beans reliably and transparently to Canadian manufacturers.


We are a Canadian-registered company, headquartered in Ottawa.  We speak English and French. We know both worlds — and we bridge them for you.

About Us

Founded by Christian Kilundu and Nigel Tootill, AFCO-Trading brings together decades of international sales, partnerships, and trade operations experience. Christian's deep roots in the DRC and expertise in cross-border business development, combined with Nigel's operational and supply chain background, make AFCO the partner you can trust from first conversation to final delivery.

Chrstian Kilungu is an international development expert and strategic advisor  with over 15 years experience operating at the intersection of global programs, finance and emerging market development.  he has worked at leading institutions including UNHCR, World Vision International and the McCain Institute.


Born with deep ties to the DRC, he has spent years building the relationships — with farmers, cooperatives, and exporters — that make AFCO's supply chain possible. He leads client relationships, sales, and business development.


Having led programs and partnerships across the Democratic Republic of Congo, Christian brings a deep on-the-ground insight into African Markets, complex regulatory environments and trusted market intelligence.



Nigel Tootill is an experienced entrepreneur and business person with over 15 years running international business and projects.


Nigel brings expertise in international trade, logistics, and supply chain operations. He ensures that every order AFCO takes is delivered on time, to spec, and with full documentation. He leads operations, quality assurance, and trade compliance.
